Evaluation of the association between bilateral calcaneal fractures and suicide attempts: Findings from 4 different trauma centers in Turkey

In this study we aimed to determine the association between bilateral calcaneal fractures and suicide attempt some socio-demographic characteristics. This was conducted among patients admitted emergency departments of four trauma centers with January 2014 March 2017. The Sociodemographic Data Form, Structured Clinical Interview for Diagnostic Statistical Manual Mental Disorders fourth edition (DSM-IV) Axis I (SCID-I) were applied participants. Comparisons about age gender made suicidal non-suicidal fractures. Twenty-three calcaneus included in study. Of 23 fractures, 14 (61%) evaluated as nine (39%) not suicidal. majority jumpers female (n = 11, 78.6%). Suicidal younger compared fallers. As a result SCID interview, (64.3%) diagnosed serious psychiatric diagnoses: One patient first episode psychotic disorder, one schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder, Bipolar two Major Depressive Disorder three Adjustment Disorder. Based on our results determined that are frequently disorders. Therefore, dimension should be taken into consideration treatment plan multidisciplinary approach taken.
